On Saturday 29 May 2021 we had our fourth Couch Session at Flower Café
What a phenomenal morning! Our Guest Speaker, Charlotte Mande Ilunga shared her life story as a survivor of the war in Congo DRC.
What a harrowing experience it was listening to how as a young lady she suffered unthinkable brutality. Telling her story was no easy feat and as she became emotional, so did we.
At times, all I wanted to do was hold her and say how sorry I am that she had to endure what no human ever should. Aunty Charlotte (as she is affectionately known) did not only share her hurt and anguish, she also spoke boldly about her survival and endurance.
We reveled as she explained how she decided to not give up on life and how, amidst it all found her faith. The very faith that carried her and continues to do so. Aunty Charlotte is the epitome of Grace! Thank you to everyone that attended on Saturday.
Couch Sessions truly has become a holding space to explore life. We shared, we cried, we laughed BUT we did it together! And that’s the key, we can only heal our communities if we do it together.
